I was walking on the beach when I saw this raft floating up onto my island. As it got closer, I realized there was a man passed out on it. I rushed into the water and tried to pull the raft onto the shore. Over the next few days, I nursed this man back to health. When he awoke he told me his name and what happened to him, and his whole journey. He told me about the Cyclopes, about Circe, how his men ate the cattle, how Zeus destroyed his ship, and how all he wanted was to make it home and see his wife and son. I felt so bad for him. He overcame so many obstacles. He truly is a hero.
I knew this was punishment. The gods sent me this man to help, knowing I would fall in love with him and never want him to leave. The gods are so cruel. I know he wants to go home to see his wife and son. I have to get him to stay, somehow, some way.
He would talk to me for hours on end but you could see in his eyes that I wasn’t the one he loved. His voice gave it away too, there was always a hint of sadness to it. He longed for his wife, his son, his home.
I loved him so much. So to make him stay, I offered him immortality. He denied. I didn’t know how to make him love me. We had two beautiful children together Nausinoos and Nausithoos. He still longed for his son though.
After 7 years Hermes came for him and took him away. I knew this day would come, the gods would never allow me to be happy. Just because I supported my father in the Titan war I am punished for the rest of eternity, all alone forever. Looking at our children made me sad. I missed him. I wish he would come back. Sadly, I know the gods would never allow it. So I will sit for the rest of eternity missing my love.
